There’s a lot to pick apart in this job description. “Oldies (25+)” might raise hackles, but surely more suspect is the idea that someone who “lives online” is the best guide to how things “work socially there”. For a lot of people under 25, I’d guess, the idea that offline and online social codes and practises are best understood by a hard division would seem really weird - and it’s notable that the way online and offline networks intersect seems to be a hot research area at the moment.
‘Online-is-a-place’, in fact, is the kind of thing boring old 30somethings like me who’ve been kicking around online for a while tend to think. Just saying like. This is still obviously a really awesome opportunity to earn a decent graduate wage while bullshitting the hip but gullible put a foot on the research ladder.
